Just a few thoughts...

I've been thinking a lot recently about the importance of becoming a consecrated people-- becoming what God has intended for us to be. So often in the scriptures we read about how we are children of God, the Plan of Salvation centering on Jesus Christ, and the importance of striving constantly to be better, to improve more, and to be examples to others. In my room, I have a poem hanging up by Marriane Williamson that talks about how we are children of God, and what it is that we truly fear most. Here is the poem:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'who I am to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Wow. I still get chills reading this quote! It is absolutely true. Every part of it is true. We truly our children of God who fear our potential to become like Him! This is why we don't allow ourselves to progress and become better. This is why we allow Satan to tempt us and persuade us to do wrong. Love this!
